Electrocardiogram (ECG) - A 12-lead electrical picture of the heart beat to determine regularity, electrical conductivity and possible injury to the heart. Signal Average Electrocardiogram (SAECG) - An electrical picture of the abnormal heart beats. This evaluates the possibility of sudden cardiac death due to cardiac arrythmia.
Exercise Stress Test (ETT) - This test invloves walking on a treadmill, at increasing work loads, while being monitored by a 12 - lead ECG and blood pressure responce. Your physician may also order a Nuclear stress test, a Stress Echo, and or a Medicated stress test (if you are unable to walk on a treadmill). These tests allow doctors to learn how well your heart functions when it is made to work harder.
Holter Monitoring - A digital recording of the electrical heart beat can be performed for 24 or 48 hour. This gives the ability to look at the regularity of the heart beat over an extended period of time and during activities of daily living. We also have the ability to do 30 day event monitoring.
Echocardiography - This test is performed to evaluate the heart valves, chambers and heart muscle. The sonographer applies ultrasound gel to a microphone like device and acquires images of your heart by moving this device across your chest. Other ultrasound tests, involving your heart, are Stress Echos, Transesophageal Echos and Bubble studies.
